Once upon a time we went to Disneyland, just Jared and me.  It was a something I had wanted to do for such a long time. Since baby girl #3 is on her way soon (Oct 4) we figured it was time to finally do it.  And we did.  Sometimes I cry when I remember it...is that strange?  It was such a happy time for me.  We had no responsibilities, no time constraints, no chores to do, no going off to work.  It was just me and Jared, free to do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted.  It was one of the most fun weeks of my life since we got married.  And I can't believe we finally, actually did it!

Now what's my next dream?

Enchanted Rock

Sometime last year, when I was really struggling with living in Texas, I was talking on the phone with my Dad.  I don't think he knew just how much I was struggling, but in passing he gave me some advice that has stayed with me and proven to be a tremendous gift.  In his own words he reminded me that our time in Texas would come and go.  How long it would be we didn't know, but in the meantime, go and experience all that San Antonio has to offer.  See everything you can see and do everything you can do.  And when our time does come to leave we can do so with that feeling that we really lived and loved life there, leaving nothing behind undone.

And so here's one of those experiences that is only to be found living in Texas.  We left at 7:30 am on Saturday and drove over an hour away to Enchanted Rock.  It was absolutely gorgeous, Texas-style gorgeous, which did take some time getting used to when we first moved here.  I relished every moment being with Jared and the girls, away from "life," from city life, busy life, noisy life.  We enjoyed a beautiful day together.

pictures, pictures, pictures

This was my experience of learning to make wedding cakes from my Relief Society President. I had a fabulous time. I've always wanted to watch someone and she was happy to teach me her tricks. Now I'll know the ins and outs so I can make a better wedding cake than what I made when Ang got married. Hopefully my siblings and other extended family will let me make their wedding cakes (as a gift, of course).

Kaylee turned three! It had been a tiring day so it was brownies instead of cake.

Oh Jared. He had gotten up earlier with the girls. When I woke and up I found Ashlyn and Kaylee playing together and Jared like this.
The famous Alamo. Of course this is what we have to show people whenever we have visitors.

The also famous river walk.

How could we resist? Don't worry. The water was extremely shallow...and she loved it.

Being with the Cooks for Christmas

Gingerbread houses for Christmas with the Mains. We can't believe they're leaving us and moving to Pennsylvania soon.
